Q: How long is my vehicle covered by Roadside Assistance?
A: Roadside Assistance is also included for 100,000 miles/5 years (whichever comes first) on all 2007 and 2008 Chevrolet passenger cars and light-duty trucks.  For model years prior to 2007, you vehicle is provided with Roadside Assistance for the term that matches its bumper-to-bumper warranty.  Please refer to the Owner's Manual for the specific warranty on your vehicle.

3 Signs of Bad Brake Pads

Your braking system is such an important part of safety on the road and yet many people neglect to maintain and check its condition.  Your brakes control the motion and speed of your vehicle and will wear down over time.  It's important to change your brake pads whenever necessary otherwise it will lead to more damage to your vehicle.  It's much cheaper to change your brakes than replacing your rotors.  The brake pads are hidden behind the tires so you can't visually check the brakes without removing the tires.  Don't attempt to service your own vehicle unless you're confident you know what you're doing.  We highly suggest taking your vehicle to your closest certified auto mechanic.

The service guys at Joe Van Horn Chevrolet have compiled a list of three important signs that will tell you if it's time to change your brakes:

  1. Squealing - Brake pads have an "indication" phase where the brakes still function correctly but there's a harsh screeching or groaning noise.  If the slightest touch on your brake pedal is causing this noise, then it's a definitive sign that your brake pads have worn down and need to be changed.  Get them serviced immediately otherwise it will lead to damage to the rotors.
  2. Pulsing - If you press on the brakes and your vehicles pulses, you have a problem.  It's another obvious sign that your brakes have worn down and need to be serviced.
  3. Grinding - If your vehicle has passed the squealing and have started to grind, stop driving your vehicle and get it inspected immediately!  Grinding noises usually result after the brakes have worn down and the tires are no grinding against the rotors.  Bring your vehicle in for inspection to check the condition of your rotors.  Your vehicle may require new rotors and brake pads.
Keep this three things in mind while a drive and stay safe on the road!
